Women 1. What was the situation for that group/institution before Gorbachev became Premier? Before Gorbachev became the premier women were starting to become more involved in the working industries. Their rights were increasingly establishing by the revolution of 1917 and due to the loss of men during the world war. Lenin wanted to emancipate women and give them the same rights as the men.
2.How did that group/institution interpret the application of those policies to it? Women were happy they could work and due the same things men could. But women weren't only expected to work the challenging jobs but also go home and take care of the children, the house, and the food. Women were under stress as they had to act as the “mom and dad” of the household
3. How did the Soviet state apply those policies to that group/institution, and what were the effects? In 1987 there was a meeting that raised the question of promoting women into administrative jobs. Women got their emancipation and were given the same rights to work, and had equal payment. They had the opportunity to get and education and participate in any social and political activities. This would build a new society and win the war against facism.
4. What was the significance of Gorbachev’s reforms as it pertained to that group/institution? There were a great significances but there were also some negative things that were brought up because of these reforms. Since there was more females than males, females had to work like men. But now that there was no motherly role in the house, the children were starting to lose their morals, behavior, and culture. Therefore, women were now expected to act as both parents.
